李平平，男，湖南慈利人，1980年6月生。博士，教授，博士生導師。
2003年和2006年畢業于中國地質大學（武漢），分別獲得資源勘查工程專業學士學位和礦產普查與勘探專業碩士學位，2009年畢業于中國石油大學（北京），獲得地質資源與地質工程專業博士學位。2009年10月留校工作至今，期間：2016年6月晉升為副教授，2016.8-2017.8月在美國加州理工學院做訪問學者，2017年1月聘任為學術型碩士生導師，2020年聘任為學術型博士生導師，2022年6月聘任為中國石油大學（北京）碳酸鹽巖研究中心主任，2022年7月晉升為教研崗教授，2022年9月聘任為工程博士生導師。
主要從事碳酸鹽巖儲層地質學和油氣成藏機理方面的研究工作。參加的主要科研項目包括：中科院戰略先導專項、國家科技重大專項、國家重點基礎研究發展計劃（973）、國家自然科學基金重點項目、面上項目和青年基金項目、中石油科技創新基金項目等10余項。主要科研成果包括：第一作者或通訊作者公開發表論文28篇，獲發明專利2項，獲省部級三等獎1項。擔任《Petroleum Science》、《石油科學通報》、《石油實驗地質》青年編委，《天然氣勘探與開發》編委。

主要講授：“石油地質學”、“石油地質綜合課程設計”、“石油地質綜合研究方法”。
【研究方向與研究興趣】
1. 油氣運移、聚集與蝕變過程；
2. 流體與巖石的相互作用、H2S的成因與分布預測；
3. 碳酸鹽巖的沉積與成巖作用、白云巖化流體性質與來源；
4. 碳酸鹽團簇同位素（Δ47）與地質應用。
