            Major name: Resources Exploration Engineering

            2. Major Objectives

            Cultivate engineering and technical talents with all-round development of knowledge, ability and quality, systematically mastering the basic theories, methods and skills of oil and gas exploration engineering, acquiring the basic engineering training necessary for petroleum geological engineers, and having the innovative spirit, practical ability and international vision. Lay a solid foundation for them to independently engaging exploration and development in the field of geological engineering, applied research and production management.

            After graduation, students should have the quality and ability of qualified geological engineer through about 5 years of practical work

            (1) Capable of independently engaging in engineering design, application research and production management in the field of oil and gas exploration and development geology;

            (2) Can play a leading or important role in a design, production or scientific team;

            (3) Be able to update their own knowledge through continuing education or other means, improve their own ability, and keep up with the development of new theories and technologies in relevant fields;

            (4) Good self-cultivation and moral standards, willingness and ability to serve the society.

            3. Graduation Requirements

            3.1 Knowledge and capability requirements

            (1) Engineering knowledge: Master the basic knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering foundation, basic geology, oil and gas geology and geophysics required for resource exploration, and be able to apply them to solve complex engineering problems in oil and gas exploration.

            (2) Problem analysis: Be able to apply the basic principles of mathematics, natural science, basic geology, oil and gas geology and geophysics to identify, express and combine with literature research to identify and analyze complex engineering problems in oil and gas resource exploration, so as to draw effective conclusions.

            (3) Design or develop solutions: Be able to carry out the scheme design of oil and gas resource exploration target and development geological evaluation, and embody the innovation consciousness in the design link, and consider the influence of society, health, safety, law, culture, environment and other factors.

            (4) Research: Be able to comprehensively use the theories and methods learned to study the complex engineering problems in the exploration of oil and gas resources, including design experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and get reasonable and effective conclusions.

            (5) Use of modern tools: For complex engineering problems in oil and gas resources exploration, be able to apply modern information technology, books and network resources to document retrieval and data query, select and use conventional and professional computer software and other engineering tools to carry out geological prediction, simulation and evaluation, and understand the limitations of these tools.

            (6) Engineering and society: Be able to reasonably analyze and evaluate the impact of oil and gas exploration engineering practice on society, health, safety, law and culture, and understand the responsibilities to be undertaken.

            (7) Environment and sustainable development: Be able to understand and evaluate the impact of oil and gas exploration engineering practice on environment and social sustainable development.

            (8) Professional norms: With strong humanistic and social scientific literacy and sense of social responsibility, be able to understand and abide by the engineering professional ethics and norms in the practice of oil and gas resources exploration engineering, and fulfill their responsibilities.

            (9) Individual and team: Strong team consciousness and cooperation spirit, and be able to assume the role of individual, team member and person in charge in multidisciplinary team.

            (10) Communication: Be able to effectively communicate with peers in the industry and the public on complex engineering issues, including drafting drawings, writing written reports or design papers, making statements, answering questions, etc., master a foreign language, be able to read foreign literature of this major, have a certain international vision and basic ability to carry out international exchanges.

            (11) Project management: Understand and be familiar with the engineering management principles and economic evaluation methods, and can be applied to the engineering practice of oil and gas resources exploration.

            (12) Lifelong learning: Have the consciousness of self-study and lifelong learning, and the ability of continuous learning and adaptive development.
