普能公司總部位于北京，于2006年成立，是國際風險投資公司投資的高新技術企業。普能公司專注于新型大容量儲能產品——全釩液流氧化還原電池（Vanadium Redox Battery，釩電池）的研發、制造與商業化應用，面向全球市場以安全優質的儲能產品與解決方案來提高電力質量、突破可再生能源應用的技術瓶頸、提升能源使用效率，成為供電新模式的領航者。 通過不懈的研發努力，普能公司已經成功研制國產化、低成本的釩電池系統。
2009年1月，普能公司實現對加拿大VRB Power System公司（VRB Power公司）的資產收購，包括VRB Power公司擁有或控制的所有專利、商標、技術秘密、設備材料等。此外，VRB Power公司的核心技術團隊加入合并后的公司，為普能公司帶來超過十年的釩電池領域研發經驗，使其在電堆構造、關鍵材料、系統集成等方面取得突破性的進展。目前，普能公司總部與工廠位于北京，在加拿大運營的公司名稱為普能國際。目前普能公司擁有釩電池領域15項專利覆蓋全球24個國家和地區，這些專利包括核心電堆設計、電解液配置、系統集成設計，以及在風力發電、離網供電系統和智能電網等領域的應用。
普能公司已經實現將VRB Power公司在釩電池領域所取得的技術成就與中國成熟制造業的低成本之間的結合。普能公司正在積極測試擁有自主知識產權的質子交換膜、低成本雙極板材料和高純度釩電解液，在未來的一年里，普能公司將實現釩電池系統所有關鍵組件成本顯著下降，提升整體供應鏈與戰略合作伙伴之間的合作。普能公司基于150kW標準儲能模塊構建的兆瓦級大型儲能系統將以安全、穩定、高品質的產品質量應用于電網。
